National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP) & National Unique Identification (UID) 

National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP) : The main objective of the NLRMP is to develop a modern, comprehensive and transparent land records management system in the country with the aim to implement the conclusive land-titling system with title guarantee.

Hence the major components of the programme are :

- Computerization of all land records including mutations, digitization of maps and integration of textual and spatial data.

- Survey/re-survey and updation of all survey and settlement records including creation of original cadastral records wherever necessary.

- Computerization of registration and its integration with the land records maintenance system.

- Development of core Geospatial Information System (GIS) and capacity building.

The NLRMP was approved by the Cabinet on a year back on 21st August 2008. It has been proposed to cover the entire country by the 12th Plan period.

The entire NLRMP project is estimated to be in the range of around Rs 5700 Cr.

1. Computerization of land records (Approx – Rs 500 Cr)
[Data entry/re-entry/data conversion, Digitization of Cadastral maps, Tehsil, sub-division and district Data Centres, State Level Data Centres (SLDC), Inter-connectivity among revenue Offices ]

2. Survey/resurvey and updating of survey & settlement records (including ground control network and ground truthing) : Approx. Rs.3,200 crore

3. Computerization of registration (Apprpx – Rs 475 Cr)

4. Modern records rooms/land records management centres (Approx. Rs.1,220 crore).

5. Training and capacity building (Approx. Rs 65 Cr).

6. Village Index base maps from satellite imagery for creating the Core GIS (Approx. Rs 200 Cr).
