Indian education

Farewell India - The Taj MahalAs Japan falls in ranks in science and math, the country is looking to Indian schools as a source of new opportunity.  Over recent years, India has  invested in software development, internet business and human capital intensive industry, whereas Japan has failed to make the same investments.
In Indian institutions, children are exposed to complex material at earlier ages. Children before the age of five are taught to count to 20 and introduced to computers; at five years old they learn to multiply, solve math word problems and write one-page essays in English. The same skills are taught in most Japanese elementary schools after second grade.
Even the Japanese Ministry of Education is recognizing the methods employed by the Indian schools. The effort put forth by Indian institutions to encourage collaborative environments in which students learn with technology, is being adapted by Japanese institutions.
